Two Irish Players in US Open 2009

Two Irish players will play in the last Grand Slam of the season in qualifying at the US Open, which takes place August 31st – September 13th 2009 in New York.

 

John Morrissey (junior) will commence in the qualifying draw on the 3rd September. The 16 year old Dublin native recently competed in the European Junior Championships where he reached the second round.

 

Conor Niland will commence next Tuesday 25th August. The 27 year old is currently ranked at 409 and has been playing full-time on the Men’s circuit since graduating from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006. Niland has recently played in the Davis Cup in Cyprus where the Irish team lost to Cyprus (3-2) in the third round of the competition.
