Britain dominate at the TE U14 David Lloyd Riverview event

The British dominated the recent Tennis Europe U14 David Lloyd Riverview event with both singles finalists coming from across the Irish Sea.
Boy’s No. 6 seed Robbie Ridout finished the week as singles champion at the south Dublin venue, coming out on top against his fellow countryman Ryan Peniston in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. The Irish boys were all eliminated by the second round with the strength of the British challenge in the boys draw, but the Irish performed well in the Consolation draw of the event as Belfast’s Peter Bothwell won the Consolation final to Waterford’s Bill Murray.

In the girls draw No.1 seed Harriet Dart of Great Britain defeated Isabelle Hearnshaw, also of Britain, in the Girls singles final. Harriet won the final in straight sets, although not before a tough fight in the second set from the no.4 seed, winning 6-4, 7-6(3). The best of the Irish in the Girls draw were Cork’s Rachel Daly and Dubliner Holly Monaghan reaching the quarterfinal of the event respectively.

Both doubles draw were also won by British pairings. The British dup of William Huyton and Jordan Parker defeated Ireland’s Peter Bothwell and Peter Mimnagh-Fleming in the boys final 6-4, 6-2. The no.3 seeds of Harriet Dart and Emily Dunne overcame the German pairing of Alexandra Boom and Jasmin Jabawy 6-4,6-1 to take home the girls doubles title.
