Congratulations to Sinead Lohan who recently came home with the Girls U14 Singles title in Tennis Europe Solihull event after some great performances at the West Midlands club in England. Seeded at No.2 for the draw Sinead cruised into the final of the competition without dropping a set throughout. In the final she successfully defeated Britain’s Katie Boulter, who was No.4 seed in the draw, in straight sets 6-4, 6-1. The Waterford native came very close to claiming the doubles crown at the Solihull venue. She partnered British girl Lana Rush to the final of the U14 Doubles event but the dup were pipped at the post by the British duo of Brigit Folland and Katie Millar 5-7, 6-1, 1-0(6).
There was further Irish interest at the Solihull event, the girls doubles final saw Dublin’s Julie Byrne and Cork’s Emily Daly finish as runners-up in the U12 competition.
