16 Jan Sorensen bows out of Australian Open 2009
Louk Sorensen’s Australian adventure ended in the early hours of this morning when the Davis Cup star was knocked out in the 2nd Qualifying round of the Australian Open in Melbourne. With confidence high in the Sorensen camp following his excellent win over Victor Crivoi earlier in the week Louk was hoping to build on his good form against the 20 year-old Canadian Peter Polanski. Sorensen began the tie brightly taking the upper hand in the opening set over the Canada’s No.2 player by six games to four putting him in an excellent position to progress to the final qualifying round.
Polansky was not to be outdone however and came back strong in the second set 6-1 to level the match at one set apiece. Polansky was to take the upper hand in the deciding set, breaking the serve of Sorensen to advance to the final qualifying round where he will meet France’s Olivier Patience.
