Sports Capital Funding

Martin Cullen, TD, Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism has announced allocations totalling €50 million to a range of sports projects around the country under the 2008 Sports Capital Programme. This programme, which is part-funded by the National Lottery and administered by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism is the primary vehicle for Government support for the provision of sports facilities and equipment around the country.
 
Tennis Ireland was allocated €140,000 towards the cost of providing a seasonal air-hall cover for the new synthetic clay courts at the National Tennis Centre.
 
At another level approximately 24 tennis clubs benefited from the round of funding announced today and they are as follows;

Glasnevin LTC, Dublin – €65,000
Mount Pleasant LTC, Dublin – €120,000
Loughrea LTC, Co. Galway – €10,000
Galway LTC, Galway – €5,000
Prosperous LTC, Co. Kildare – €8,000
Kilkenny LTC – €25,000
Abbeyleix LTC, Co. Laois – €20,000
Portarlington TC, Co. Laois – €10,000
Carrick-on-Shannon TC, Co. Leitrim – €30,000
Dundalk TC, Co. Louth – €70,000
Ratoath LTC, Co. Meath – €55,000
Co. Tipperary LTC, Tipperary – €60,000
RCLTC – €85,000
New Inn LTC, Co. Tipperary – €20,000
Puckane TC – €15,000
Causeway LTC, Co. Waterford – €80,000
 
In national terms, 25 tennis projects have benefited to the tune of €1.8 million from the €50 million allocated, across a total of 682 sports infrastructure projects in 2008
