Tournament Grand Prix Rules

HOW IT WORKS

The Connacht Tournament Grand Prix (CTGP) is the ranking system for U12 & U14 players in Connacht. This has been operating since the start of the 2007-2008 season. Results are gathered from events listed in the Connacht Tournament Grand Prix Web Page (this can be found under 'Connacht Tournament Grand Prix') and allocated to Connacht Players. Connacht Rankings are updated after the results for each event are processed.

The following rules apply to the 2008-2009 season:

ELIGIBILITY

The CTGP is only for players who are members of affiliated Clubs

CONNACHT RANKINGS

Each tournament will receive points towards a Connacht Ranking dependant on the status of the event. There is approx. double the quantity of points available for Connacht Junior Tournaments than for any outside tournament. The only exceptions to this are the Matchplay series and the 2 National Events (National Indoors & Fitzwilliam). All relevant results will count towards a Connacht Ranking.

If you have played or are intending to play in any outside tournaments, please make the CTGP organiser (Garrett Barry) aware of this by emailing connachttennis@gmail.com. This will help to ensure that you are allocated points for the tournament.

INTERPROVINCIAL SELECTION

The Under 14 Interprovincial Teams will consist of the Top 3 Ranked Players in the CTGP race at the end of July or at the end of the tournament which has started by then, plus 2 Wild Cards selected by the selection committee.

You must play in at least 2 of the Connacht Tournaments (Sligo, Castlebar & Galway) to be selected to play for the province. The tournament calendar for 2009 is avaialble from the Connacht Website.

Also taken into consideration for selection will be commitment to training during the coaching year & commitment to playing in the Connacht Tournaments.
