Section 7: Prizes

Following the advice of the ITF and the observation of their regulations which states that, The ITF does not permit U18 Junior Circuit tournaments to offer prize money, Tennis Ireland has decided to phase out cash prizes at junior events over a two year transitionary period.

Please note that, this does not rule out gifts for those juniors who achieve success in open events. Tennis Europe informed us that, however, the value of a gift to the winner of a tournament should not exceed US $500.

Tennis Europe also add that, Tournament Directors are responsible for ensuring that gifts and services provided to players are suitable for minors and comply with any legal requirements of the jurisdiction where the players resides and of the country where the event is held.

Following on from the advice from both the ITF and Tennis Europe that providing cash is not good practice in junior tennis, Tennis Ireland has decided to phase out cash prizes to junior players.

Prizes, however, in the form of gifts and vouchers etc are acceptable as good practice.
